Eden Brent is Traditional Blues Female Artist of 2026!
Eden Takes Traditional Blues Female Artist Trophy at the 47th Annual Blues Music Awards
Following her Pinetop Perkins Piano Player win last year, Eden won Traditional Blues Female Artist in the 2026 Blues Music Awards. Also known as the Koko Taylor Award, Eden accepted the award saying, “Koko Taylor used to come to Greenville and perform the Mississippi Delta Blues Festival just about every year, and I would sit in the audience thinking, ‘Wow! Isn’t she something?' It's kind of a full circle moment to be standing here holding an award with her name on it and my name on it."
New album Fall 2026!
Things Going South
Arrives This September
A February session at Sam Phillips Recording in Memphis delivers ten toe-tapping tunes of Love and Protest. Things Going South is a modern reflection of traditional blues and is a collection of songs mostly penned by Brent's husband and Getaway Blues producer, Bob Dowell. Bob is joined by producer-engineer Dawn Hopkins, to create Eden's rockin'est record ever! Hopkins, a beloved veteran of the sound and recording industry is a Memphis Brass Note honoree who recorded Eden's first two albums (Something Cool, Mississippi Number One).
The album features a four-piece rhythm section with select musical guests. Eden sings from the piano, while Bob plays bass guitar. They are joined by Memphis mainstays Logan Hanna (guitar), Robinson Bridgeforth (drums), and Tony Thomas (Hammond B-3). A horn section boasts Marc Franklin (trumpet), Bob Dowell (trombone), and Kirk Smothers (baritone sax). From the Getaway Blues session, Rob Updegraff (lead guitar) and Pat Levett (castanets) add cameos to a couple of the tracks.
